Decorative Glass by

Acid Etching, also known as French Embossing, (which is a process invented in the 19th century), is a way of imparting a frosted etched finish in delicate tones of white and diffused shades onto areas of glass. Intricate designs and patterns can be created using this process.

This method was originally used by the Victorians for decorating windows and glass panels in private residences, bars and commercial buildings, giving a luxurious and expensive feel to entrances and sitting areas. It also offered privacy because of the opaque finish.

Areas of glass can also be stippled to various degrees.

Glass panels treated this way can be used in the same way as sand blasted glass, ie double glazed windows and door panels, kitchen cabinet door panels, wardrobe door panels.

Using this method, infinite designs can be created, with many finishes and degrees of transparency.
